Set in a candy colored town of France, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg) is definitely a sweet and whimsical little film. Umbrellas stars Catherine Deneuve as Genevieve and Nino Castelnuovo as Guy, two young lovers who must deal with Guy's absence 
and Genevieve's pregnancy. All the dialogue is sung allowing the audience an intimate performance of two lovebird's song.
The most striking part of the film is the use of color. During Genevieve's and Guy's courtship, the town is painted with beautiful and delicate colors. The palette includes pinks, blues, greens, and yellows.
